Return & Refund Policy
At Outboard Mart LLC, we are committed to your complete satisfaction. Due to the significant size, value, and technical nature of outboard motors, we have established the following clear policy to ensure fairness for both our customers and our business. Please read this policy carefully before making a purchase.
1. Return Eligibility & Timeframes
A. New Outboard Motors:
New Yamaha and Suzuki outboards may be returned only if they are unused, uninstalled, in original factory condition, and in their original, unopened packaging. Returns must be initiated within 7 calendar days of the customer receiving the shipment. After 7 days, all sales of new motors are final.
B. Pre-Owned / Used Outboard Motors:
At Outboard Mart LLC, we stand behind the quality of our certified pre-owned Yamaha outboard motors. To ensure your complete confidence, we offer a conditional 72-hour return policy on all motors that have passed our “Ready-for-Sea” certification. After 72-hours, all sales of used, pre-owned, or “As-Is” outboard motors are FINAL SALE.
2. Grounds for Return
We accept returns for new motors only under the following conditions:
The motor was shipped in error (wrong model or horsepower).
The motor has a manufacturer defect that is not due to customer mishandling, installation error, or accident. (Note: Warranty claims for defective new motors are handled separately under our Warranty Policy; a return may not be necessary.)
The customer legally cancels the order under the conditions stated in Section 6.
Non-Returnable Situations:
Returns will NOT be accepted for:
Buyer’s remorse or incorrect horsepower/shaft length selection.
Motors that have been installed, had fluids added, been started, or show any signs of use.
Motors damaged due to improper installation, accident, or neglect.
Any motor that is not in its original, sealed crate and packaging.
3. Return Process & Authorization
Step 1: Request a Return Authorization (RA) Number
Contact our customer service team at [email protected] within the eligible timeframe. Provide your order number and a detailed reason for the return.
Step 2: Receive Instructions & RA Number
If your return request is approved, we will issue a Return Authorization (RA) Number and provide specific instructions for repackaging and shipping. No return will be accepted without an RA number clearly marked on the outside of the crate.
Step 3: Repackage & Ship
You are responsible for:
Repackaging: The motor must be repackaged in its original factory crate and packaging to our satisfaction. If the original packaging is damaged or discarded, you are responsible for securing professional, freight-worthy crating at your own expense.
Shipping & Costs: You are responsible for all return shipping costs, including freight, insurance, and any customs fees for international returns. The motor must be shipped back via a insured, trackable freight service. We strongly recommend insuring the shipment for its full value.
Restocking Fee: A 20% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund to cover processing, inspection, and repackaging costs.
4. Refund Process
Once we receive the returned new motor at our warehouse, our technicians will inspect it to ensure it is in new, resalable condition (unused, unscratched, with all parts and manuals).
Timing: If the return is approved, your refund will be processed within 10 business days of inspection approval.
Method: The refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase, minus the 20% restocking fee and any original outbound shipping costs (which are non-refundable).
International Refunds: For international orders, refunds will be issued in U.S. Dollars (USD). Any currency conversion losses or bank fees are the customer’s responsibility.
5. Damaged or Incorrect Shipments
Damage Upon Delivery:
You must inspect the external crate for signs of damage before signing the freight bill. If damage is visible, note it as “DAMAGED” on the driver’s paperwork, take photos, and contact us at [email protected] within 24 hours. We will initiate a freight claim on your behalf. Do not refuse the shipment without contacting us first.
Incorrect Item Shipped:
If you receive an incorrect model, contact us immediately. We will arrange for the correct motor to be shipped and provide a pre-paid return label for the incorrect item at our expense.
6. Order Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your order without penalty only if:
The order has not yet been processed for shipping.
The cancellation request is received in writing (email) within 24 hours of placing the order.
Once an order has entered the processing or shipping stage, cancellation is subject to our standard return policy and fees, as we incur immediate costs for crating, logistics, and paperwork.
7. Warranty Claims vs. Returns
This Returns Policy is separate from our Warranty Policy. If you receive a new motor with a manufacturer defect, please refer to the Warranty Policy for repair or replacement procedures, which is typically a more efficient solution than a full return.
