Shipping & Delivery Policy
At Outboard Mart LLC, we understand that getting your new or pre-owned outboard motor to you safely and efficiently is a critical part of your purchase. We have streamlined our global shipping and delivery processes to serve customers across the United States, Canada, and worldwide. Please review our comprehensive policy below.
1. Processing & Order Fulfillment
Once your order and payment are confirmed, our team begins the fulfillment process.
In-Stock Items: Orders for new outboard motors from our ready inventory and certified pre-owned outboards that have completed inspection typically begin processing within 1-2 business days.
Special Orders:Â For specific models or configurations not immediately in stock, a team member will contact you within 24 hours to provide a detailed timeline.
Preparation: Every outboard is prepared for shipment by our expert technicians. This includes final checks, drainage of test fluids, and secure professional crating in a custom-built wooden crate to ensure maximum protection during transit.
2. Domestic Shipping (Within the USA)
We ship to all 50 U.S. states, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as to U.S. territories.
Carriers: We primarily use trusted freight carriers such as FedEx Freight, UPS Freight, and specialized motor freight services.
Shipping Method: Outboard motors are shipped via liftgate freight service. A truck with a hydraulic liftgate is required for delivery, as drivers are not responsible for manual unloading. Delivery is typically to the curbside at your designated address. You are responsible for moving the crate from the curbside to its final location.
Transit Times:
Continental US: 3-10 business days from shipment date, depending on distance (e.g., Florida to New York is faster than Florida to California).
Alaska & Hawaii:Â 10-21 business days, depending on port schedules.
Tracking: You will receive a pro tracking number and carrier contact information via email as soon as your order ships.
3. International Shipping
We are experienced exporters and regularly ship to key international boating markets.
Primary Service Regions: We efficiently handle shipments to Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the European Union, and parts of Asia.
Shipping Process: International orders are shipped FOB (Free On Board) from our warehouse in Florida. We manage the export process, including crating and delivery to the port of departure. We will provide all necessary commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
Freight Forwarder: For door-to-door service, we can recommend reputable international freight forwarders who will manage the ocean/air freight, import customs clearance, and final delivery in your country. Alternatively, you may arrange your own forwarder.
Costs & Duties: The quoted shipping cost typically covers delivery to the main port in your destination country. All import duties, taxes (like VAT or GST), customs clearance fees, and inland freight charges within your country are the responsibility of the purchaser. We recommend contacting your local customs office to estimate these fees before ordering.
4. Shipping Costs
Shipping costs for outboard motors are substantial due to their size, weight, and the specialized handling required.
Quotes: Shipping is not calculated at automatic checkout. After you place your order, our logistics team will promptly provide you with a detailed and binding shipping quote based on your delivery address and the specific motor purchased.
Factors Influencing Cost: Final cost depends on the crated dimensions and weight, destination ZIP/postal code, and current carrier rates.
Payment:Â The approved shipping cost will be invoiced separately and must be paid in full before the motor is dispatched from our facility.
5. Delivery & Receiving Your Order
Proper receipt of your shipment is crucial.
Scheduling:Â The freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window. AÂ responsible adult must be present to receive and inspect the shipment.
Inspection Upon Delivery: It is imperative that you inspect the crate for external damage in the presence of the delivery driver before signing the Bill of Lading. If there is any visible damage to the crate (crushing, punctures, severe impact), note it clearly as “SHIPMENT DAMAGED” on the driver’s paperwork and take photos. Contact us immediately at [email protected].
Concealed Damage: If damage to the motor itself is discovered after uncrating, notify us and the carrier within 48 hours to file a claim.
6. Limitations & Important Notes
Remote Areas: Deliveries to remote or rural locations, islands (e.g., in Canada’s Maritime provinces or Australia’s Queensland coast), or locations with limited truck access may incur additional fees or require pickup from a nearby freight depot.
Address Accuracy:Â You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address. Address changes after shipment may result in significant rerouting fees.
Shipping Delays: While we provide estimated timelines, transit times are not guaranteed and can be affected by carrier schedules, weather, port congestion, or customs inspections (for international orders).
Returns & Refunds: Please see our separate Return Policy. Note that return shipping for large items like outboards is the customer’s responsibility and is typically costly.
